Product Description
5-5-15 - NEW accessory release

3 colored windows (Red, Blue, and Green) are now available for the integrated reservoir as a DIY accessory solution.  Dis-assembly of the reservoir is required, and product warranty will not be voided however, Swiftech will not guarantee the product for leaks once it has been disassembled by the user. The colored windows are available individually in the accessories section. Shown below on the H240-X CPU cooler version.

The patent pending H140-X  CPU liquid cooling system is the scaled down version of the award winning H220-X and H240-X cooling kits, formatted to fit space constrained systems. The radiator has been designed to exactly fit the width of a 140 mm fan, so that the product can be installed at the back of cases using a 140 mm exhaust fans without interference. The H140-X can also be installed at the top of the case, and there is sufficient tubing length to install it in this configuration.

The H140-X includes the same enthusiast grade components as the H220/H240-X kits, such as the built-in MCP30 pump, and the Apogee® XL waterblock. This product remains entirely focused on low to inaudible operating noise with extreme thermal performance, and it is engineered to appeal to the broadest possible spectrum of performance oriented users:

CASUAL USERS ENTHUSIAST USERS
  • The kit is shipped factory pre-filled, ready for plug-and-play installation, and it is maintenance free during its warranty period.
  • Both Swiftech's powerful MCP30 pump and high-pressure Helix fan are PWM compliant devices, allowing the H140-X to be recognized and speed-controlled by the motherboard depending on CPU temperature, just like a regular cooling fan.
  • As a bonus, the system also includes our PWM splitter allowing connection of up to 8 PWM devices which can then be controlled as one by the motherboard.
  • Finally, thanks to a clear and user-friendly pictorial installation guide, it could not be easier to install and setup!
  • The system can be entirely customized thanks to easily replaceable tubing and fittings.
  • Thanks to its powerful pump it can support additional liquid cooled components such as graphics cards and/or additional radiator(s).
  • The factory fittings can now be upgraded to any G1/4 compatible after-market fittings (an optional adapter is needed for the pump outlet and is available here, which allows enthusiast users to upgrade their system to 1/2" ID tubing if they wish to.

The H140-X leverages Swiftech's patent pending technology initially developed with the MCR-X20 Drive series of radiators; in this technology, the pump is fully integrated into the radiator instead of being built into the waterblock. Two major improvements were implemented compared to the original MCR-X20 series of radiators:

  • thanks to a revised placement of the pump and reservoir, the H140-X radiator is now the most compact 140mm heat exchanger on the market, thus facilitating installation of the unit in almost any case having space for a 140mm fan.

  • the reservoir is now transparent and LED backlit, allowing users to inspect the coolant level while enjoying the inner workings of the pump as can be seen below in a customized system featuring the smaller H220-X that we presented for CES 2014.

Finally, as an immediate benefit of this configuration we were able to use our new extreme performance flagship waterblock the  Apogee™ XL which resulted in enhanced thermal performance and flow rate, not to mention superb cosmetic appeal thanks to the XL's multi-color back-lighting capabilities. While only recently released, the Apogee XL has already received two Gold Awards below.

The H140-X carries Swiftech limited 3 year warranty.

From virtually silent to comfortable audible noise levels Our design objective for all Swiftech products is always to minimize the operating noise while preserving high thermal performance characteristics. At its lowest speed settings, the H140-X system is virtually inaudible. At its maximum speed, it remains within comfortable audible noise levels.
Plug-and-Play The H140-X is probably the easiest AIO liquid cooling kit to install bar none, and is even easier to setup than many high-end air coolers.
Superior Thermal Performance Thanks to its copper & brass 140mm radiator, high static pressure Helix 140mm pwm fan, more powerful DC pump than any other AIO on the market, and because it uses the Award winning Apogee™ XL waterblock, the H140-X kit delivers superior thermal performance to any comparably sized system on the market.
Expandable/Customizable

The H140-X differentiates itself from other AIO's by its ability to be fully customized, and to support additional liquid cooled components such as graphics cards, chipset,  and/or additional radiator(s).

  • From a practical standpoint, this is possible thanks to:
    • The presence of a reservoir including a fill-port built into the radiator so that the system can be easily emptied or refilled by the user at will,
    • Enthusiast grade 5/8” OD (3/8" ID) black EPDM tubing fastened to swivel fittings with an elegant clamping system that users can easily remove and safely re-install.
    • The factory tubing and fittings can be replaced by aftermarket G1/4 compatible offerings of your choice (an optional G1/4 adapter is needed for the pump outlet, and is available in the accessories section).
  • From a thermal performance standpoint, this is made possible by:
    • The high thermal capacity of the 140mm copper and brass radiator
    • The powerful high-pressure pump capable of driving sufficient flow to cool multiple devices in the loop.
    • The award winning flagship Apogee XL waterblock
Automatic speed control or fine-tuning right out of the box Both the pump and the fan are PWM compliant devices, allowing the H140-X to be recognized and speed-controlled by the motherboard depending on CPU temperature just like any standard CPU cooler. As a bonus, the system includes a PWM splitter allowing connection of up to 8 PWM devices which can then be controlled as one by the motherboard.
Maintenance-free As shipped from our factory and installed as directed (*), the H140-X CPU cooler requires no maintenance during its 3 year warranty period; a system refill is recommend at the end of 3 years. Under extreme ambient conditions, the system may need more frequent refills. If upgraded by the user, the interval of time between refills will depend on how users implement their customized loop.
Reliability Both fans and pump are rated for a 60,000 MTBF (Meantime Between Failures)
Support With over 10 years of experience designing, manufacturing and setting up liquid cooling systems, Swiftech® customer service can assist you in setting up and troubleshooting your system 6 days a week, 12 hours a day.

Quick Installation Guide (pdf)
PWM Troubleshooting
"All the devices connected to my PWM splitter work at 100% but I cannot vary their speed"
  1. Check that the splitter mini-4 pin PWM signal cable is correctly connected to the CPU_Fan connector of the motherboard
  2. Enable "Manual Fan Control" in the motherboard BIOS
"The device(s) connected to my PWM splitter do not work"
  1. Check that the splitter power cable is connected to the power supply
  2. Check that the non-functioning device female 4-pin connector is correctly inserted in all 4 pins of the splitter connector: in effect, it may be possible to inadvertently offset the female connector by one pin by slightly forcing its insertion, so be careful about this!
"I am getting a "CPU fan error" when I turn on the computer"
  1. Make sure that a device is connected to channel 1 of the PWM splitter. If the motherboard CPU_Fan header does not read an RPM signal, it will return such error by default.
  2. Check that the device connected to Channel 1 of the PWM splitter is correctly inserted in its connector.
  3. Check that the power cable of the PWM splitter is connected to power supply.
"I connected the PWM splitter to an auxiliary 4-pin connector that was indicated as PWM capable by my Motherboard manual, but I can't vary the speed of my devices"
  1. Other than the CPU_Fan connector which is PWM enabled by default, most of the motherboards 4-pin connectors feature two methods of speed adjustment in order to allow control of both types of fans, the 3-pins which are voltage controlled, and the 4-pins which are PWM controlled. As a result, the PWM functionality must be enabled in the BIOS before it can actually work. Please consult your motherboard manual for a "how To".
  2. Since the "CPU_Fan" motherboard connector is PWM enabled by default, we recommend that you connect the splitter to the CPU_Fan connector in order to ascertain its functionality.
"I am connecting the splitter to a PWM fan controller instead of the motherboard, and it doesn't work"
  • Not all PWM fan controllers are compatible. Please read this white paper for further explanations and a list of compatible devices.

"Swiftech has really outdone themselves with the H220-X.  [...] Winning our benchmarks is no small feat, and Swiftech's AIO managed to do so while being surprisingly quiet, which is just fantastic. Competing AIO liquid coolers just can't compare in this regard. Let's not forget the impeccable build quality, and with the option to expand the kit, it just doesn't get any better than the H220-X "

"[...] the H220X is simply the best performing out-of-the-box cooler you can buy today. Period.[...]There is not a 240mm CLC or air cooler that can beat it, and it does it at 20+ dB quieter than the competing CLCs. To sum it up; the H220X offers better performance, lower noise, better aesthetics, flawless design and build, better components and the option of expandability when compared to a CLC. Putting it gently, choosing any CLC over the H220X would be doing yourself a huge disservice."

"Swiftech's H220-X is the first CPU cooler that made me say "Wow". It features enthusiast class components in an all in one form factor. It is bridging the gap between consumer and enthusiast cooling."
Overclockers.com gives the H220-X it's Seal of Approval - Read the entire article

"The Swiftech H220-X is an impressive piece of hardware, make no mistake about it. It’s unquestionably the best performing AIO cooler I’ve ever had my hands on. From the moment you take the H220-X out of the box, you’ll be impressed with the build quality and the enthusiast level components that make it up. From their flagship Apogee XL water block, high performance MCP30 pump, to the expandability the unit offers, it’s easy to see Swiftech didn’t cut any corners here. They even enhanced the aesthetic value by lighting up the reservoir’s sight glass and providing the option to change the LED color on the pump.

If you’ve been looking into water cooling your system for the first time, this is the perfect place to start for the beginner. As your knowledge grows, the H220-X can grow with you and be expanded to water cool additional components in your system. If you’re an old hat at water cooling, the quality components Swiftech uses would be a good place to start a simple water cooling loop or as a basis for a more elaborate setup.

The Swiftech H220-X is selling for $139.99 directly from Swiftech’s web site. That’s an absolute bargain for everything you get with the kit. Heck, just the Apogee XL water block alone will cost you half of that. Add a pump, radiator, reservoir, tubing… yea, you get the picture!

If you’re searching for the best all-in-one water cooler with a 240 mm radiator, the search stops here. Overclockers approved!"

Chispy's in-depth user review with many videos on Xtremesystems.org forums:  Read the entire article

"Swiftech H220-X was able to hit a maximum 100% stable overclock of 4900Mhz at a very high voltage of 1.405v cpu v.core staying under 79C all the time during the testing period at 100% cpu load. Incredible performance by the H220-X , it was able to handle all those volts in a hot running Haswell cpu like a Boss , the heat load was massive to handle.

The contender for the Swiftech H220-X was the Corsair H105 , and I was very disappointed by this aio , I expected better performance really. Corsair H105 was able to hit only 4800Mhz Not completely stable at a maximum voltage of 1.35v cpu v.core only , ( plenty of BSOD + Errors and I did 3 re-mounts of the aio to try my best and give it a good chance to match the same clocks 4900Mhz at 1.405v as the H220-X , but it was impossible as you can see it in the videos at the end ). The very loud noise of the fans and the water-pump working at maximum speeds were trying very hard to cool down the cpu , it was able to finish the testing with temperatures of 82c at 100Mhz less than the H220-X and .55 volts less v.core. The Corsair H105 was unable to handle the heat load of the haswell cpu at 4900Mhz and 1.405v. voltage , so I had to do a 100Mhz downclock and use much less voltages to get it somewhat stable at 4800Mhz and only 1.35v , that's all the H105 had at maximum Fans , Pump speeds , it ran out of cooling performance that's the truth.

Clearly the very high end components and innovations of the Swiftech H220-X makes a big difference in Perfromance and it shows , all at a very low noise almost silent. To maxed out your cpu while looking for those last Mhz and 100% stability I can highly recommend the H220-X , unrival performance while silent.

Big thumbs up to Swiftech for bringing into the market such a great product , All those innovations , High end components and thinking out of the box from Swiftech on the H220-X is what separate the Men from the Boys.

If I wanted to save money I'd have bought a budget locked chip, full tower case, and an evo 212 aircooler. Instead I went with an i7 4970k in a Z97 mini itx motherboard in a fairly unique case. I could only fit a 140mm radiator in a Lian Li pc tu200 case that has limited space and ventilation. H140-X still leaves room for an 11 inch graphics card. It will probably be only pc I ever built so high end all the way. All reviewers agreed the H140-X in a class by itself, performing as well as some 220mm competition. I have to buy a piece at a time and have no hesitation buying this ahead of time. I doubt it will get either cheaper or better. Had to wait 3 months to be back in stock, no more waiting for me.
