Product Description

The Komodo™ HD7900 series are true full cover waterblocks for AMD® Radeon™  HD7990, 7970 and 7950 reference design boards. The coolant flow path includes all critical components such as GPU, memory and power mosfets (voltage regulation modules, also called VRMs).  Proper cooling of all the critical components contributes to overclocking stability and reliable operations.

Three models are available for each of the above boards:  Komodo HD7990, HD7970 and HD7950. The bridge of the new dual GPU Komodo HD7990 aligns with the Komodo HD7970 and thus supports a liquid cooled CrossFireX (TriFire) installation.

The only true full cover water-block The blocks cover the full length of the card and utilizes all the original circuit board mounting points; this results in superior thermal interface with all the components, but more importantly it prevents bending and/or damage to the card compared to competing solutions that leave critical components exposed for cost saving purposes; the Komodo HD7900 series continue this exclusive Swiftech® initiative as a true professional solution (an industry first).
Enhanced thermal performance Recent independent reviews have placed the Komodo waterblocks at the top of the thermal performance charts compared to all other offerings on the market; this was due to Swiftech's 0.60x0.60 thin pin matrix technology;  with the Komodo HD7900 series, Swiftech® implements an even smaller micro-pin matrix technology which features pins measuring 0.25x0.35mm;  this design improves thermal performance even further and is closely comparable to that of the Swiftech's CPU waterblocks (0.25x0.25 micro-pins). This feature brings unrivalled thermal efficiency across the widest range of flow rates.
Moderate flow restriction by design The water channels have been optimized for optimum flow rate in order to take into account multiple water-blocks in the same loop; additionally, the high efficiency of the thermal design authorizes better thermal performance at lower flow rates, which is a critical feature for users of variable speed pumps such as the MCP35X who wish to tune down their pump RPMs for quiet operations, or for users with moderately powerful pumps.
Illuminated bridge logo The new bridge construction dramatically enhances the cosmetic appeal of the water-block when you can actually see it, i.e. when the block is installed into your computer and you can actually see it working, thanks to a back-lit logo, and elegant laser engraved markings.
High quality black anodized aluminum back-plate included Following popular demand, the back-plate is included with the product, and it serves to protect the fragile components at the back of the card during handling and/or installation.
AMD® spec locating standoffs New standoffs with a locating stem similar to AMD's reference cooler design allow to precisely locates the board and cooler together, eliminating guessing during installation, and most importantly allow you to re-use AMD's excellent spring cross-bracket & screws: this new feature provides added safety, efficiency, convenience, and it allows a quick and painless installation!
True Chrome Plated copper base plate Maintenance-free, corrosion-free, discoloration-free, and a brighter whiter color: the precision CNC machined copper base plate is plated with true chrome, as opposed to commonly used nickel plating (which is yellowish).
Precision CNC machined housing The housing is precision CNC machined out of durable black POM acetal.
Pre-applied thermal pads High conductivity 0.5mm thick thermal pads are applied to the memory and VRM areas;  there is no need to waste time cutting thermal pads as is often the case with other blocks; Tim-Mate™ thermal grease is included with the water-block for application to the GPU area.
Single spacing PCI bracket included For users who need to interpose other PCI cards in between their graphics cards, an elegant black-painted single spacing PCI bracket is already included (Komodo HD7970 & 7950 only)
CrossFireX support for up to 4 cards Up to four Komodo HD7900 waterblocks can be interconnected either with Swiftech's bridging system, or with Lok-Seal™ adjustable connector fittings.

The PCB revision numbers noted above normally represent the deciding factor to go by when selecting your Swiftech product,
rather than the brand and/or model number of the card, except as specifically noted  below.

Please carefully inspect your card to locate the PCB revision number. All brands using AMD reference PCB's normally
print this number on the card together with the AMD Logo.
It is usually located immediately above the gold PCI contacts (GPU side of the board).
Here is an example showing a PCB number 109-C20547 (the -00P at the end can be ignored)
Caution: 1 digit may make the difference between supported or not supported!

Excellent Performance even at Low Flowrate Loop! (The Numbers...)

Hi there, I have been using 2x KOMODO-HD7900 Blocks for my Crossfire 7970 setup since November and I have to say the following... Even-though my quite "complicated" loop has a really marginal flow-rate of 2ltrs/min = ~0.5GPM, my GPUs have max 34C Core Temp and max 42C VRM Temp with Room Temp= ~25C Please note, that I use a parallel connection for these blocks, resulting to a flow-rate of 0.25GPM per block and still the results are outstanding! On top of these data, this is a great opportunity for me to mention the excellent after sales support of Swiftech team!
Awesome gpu block but needs different colored LEDs.

I like this gpu block a whole lot! One thing I wish it had was interchangeable leds or different led options. Red is great if you have a red colored build but I myself have green. I wish they had colors like white, blue, red, green, yellow or orange. Just a general verity or the ability to change it out.

WOW! What else can I say? I know, this isn’t a very professional way to write a review, but hey! – WOW it is. I received this waterblock (for my HIS Radeon HD 7950 Video Card) a few days ago, along with an Apogee HD CPU Waterblock. Both items arrived in a timely manner with excellent packaging. Took me the better part of the day to drain my system, clean it up and prep it for these new items. Thanks to the excellent instructions the installation went very well. I did have one question about something I wasn’t sure of and called Swiftech to clarify. To say that their customer support is exemplary would be an understatement. I realize they’re a small company but still – to have your call fielded by the CEO in a quick and timely manner is mind boggling in this day and age of frustration with the way most other companies handle their customer support. Thank you Gabe and Michelle for being so responsive. I’ve been running my system for two days now with absolutely no problems. My ambient temperature is around 24 degrees Celsius and at idle the card runs at about 27 degrees Celsius. At small work load (web surfing, writing, Email, etc) it runs at about 28-29 degrees Celsius. Playing Skyrim at maxed out settings I don’t think the card has gotten higher than 45 degrees Celsius. (I haven’t has the time yet to run the usual benchmark programs so these are only anecdotal observations at this point). This truly is an amazing waterblock, plus it looks fantastic as well. Love the included back plate, single slot connector and Red LED – that is definitely a nice touch. So, for anyone who is on the fence about these blocks – take the leap. Sure, they are a little more expensive than others, but it’s an added expense that is well worth it. You won’t be disappointed. PS – Everything I’ve written here about the Komodo Waterblock applies to the Apogee HD as well.

My komodo came in today as of 05/29/12. Opened the box and was very well packaged with tons of peanuts with the other box containing the block inside. I opened the box containing the komodo, and all i could say was "WOW". The block looks & feels amazing, and has a nice weight to it. The back plate also looks great and is a nice addition. The best part besides the komodo and back plate is that the single slot bracket is black as well. So happy for that as i was thinking it was going to be silver like in the pictures. I have not used this block yet as I'm waiting for my other components to arrive, but this block comes with everything you need except fittings. Also like to note the instructions are nice and easy to read and understand. 10/5 stars for me.

I received my 7970 block 7 days exactly after I ordered it. Came well packed, and the backplate is a nice included accessorie. The block is shinny and keeps the card as cool as EK blocks. The swiftech also covers the entire card, which makes it looks like it is the only block to fit the 7970 the best. Great block, and would definatley buy from here again. Also, I had a few questions, and the customer service was great. 5/5 all the way!
